When we find soft fascia, split trim, delaminated siding, or a railing you can move with one hand, we cut it out and replace it with new material rather than filling it and hoping. Most of what we replace is on exteriors: fascia boards, rake boards, eave trim, door and window casing, siding runs, deck boards, and railings. New wood gets primed on all six sides before it goes up, including the cut ends, which is where most replacement boards start failing.
